昨天去接小孩，大雨大雨一直下。

成哥一上車就說:「這真是傾盆大雨ㄚ!」

媽媽想到馬上說: 「傾盆大雨英文叫做"cats and dogs",我記得是這樣啦,為什麼叫下貓下狗的,我明天去找典故好嗎? 來跟我一起說..It raining cats and dogs. 」

 

倆兄弟覺得粉有趣就跟我一起說。

 

今早，成哥撐著雨傘問我: 「媽媽,那傾盆小雨英文怎麼說?」

媽媽: 「那就說..It raining little cats and little dogs!」

剛剛找了一下...人家外國人不這麼說啦...

我們只有學說好玩的...

"raining cats and dogs" came from the middle ages, when houses had thatched roofs. To keep warm lots of animals would hide in the roofs when it was raining and sometimes fell through the flimsy roofs on to the streets below

 

原來是以前的房子是草屋,動物為了要保暖會到屋頂去,下大雨了草屋頂支撐不住，在屋頂上的貓阿狗阿就會掉下來..so it called rain cats and dogs.

 

查了一下正確說法:

It's chunking it down.

It's coming down in buckets...這句比較符合我們的"傾盆大雨"!
